Sammy's tattoo

Here's a quick video of Sam getting her first airbrush tattoo. I'm sure it is only a matter of time until she asks me for a real one!

Quick trip to see Mickey:

We took the girls to Orlando for a quick trip to see Mickey and Friends for a couple days with Carrie's Dad (Alan). It was a good time and the weather was great. Could have been a couple degrees warmer for my tastes, but I'll take lower 70's in early February anyday!

FedEx makes it to the Top 20 Most Admired Companies:

Originally, there was an article in Fortune Magazine with FedEx being ranked in the top 100 best places to work for, but a few days later Greg looked at the list and did not see FedEx on it at all. Not sure what happened there, but a quick search showed that we came up in the top 20 most admired companies. I guess that's not a bad place to be either. Here's a link to the article.

Let's hope this one stays up for more than a few days!

Oh, by the way... guess who's number one?

Heh heh heh...

Alex makes her first basket!

Alex made her first 2 pointer in her game yesterday at Churchville-Chili School!

Ok, the team still lost, by 1 point in the last 10 seconds of the game.

But still... way to go Al!!!

The last monorail ride at Midtown Plaza

The girls had a chance to ride the Monorail at Midtown plaza last week on December 24th. The Monorail was shut down immediately after that and it looks like it was the last time they will have it at Midtown Plaza as we know it.

Maybe the next iteration of that area will have something similar in honor of this landmark holiday treat, or maybe it will just be a memory of another time for those of us who had the chance to ride it.

I just don't get it...

I'm sitting at home trying to do some work and finally when I finish, I just want to shut down my Windows XP PC and close up for the night. Sounds simple enough right? Wrong!!! I have a brand spankin new Windows XP SP2 Compaq 2510p laptop with 2 gigs of Ram - plenty of horsepower to handle anything I can dish out, right? Wrong again! It seems that my timesheets and simple web applications were too much too handle for the poor thing and when it came time to close it's eyes for the night and go to sleep, it wasn't having any of it!

I have been using Windows and Macintosh since the early 90's and for the life of me, I still can't figure out why Windows remains so successful. I just don't understand why people put up with it. If this were any other appliance in your home, you'd be back to the manufacturer in a heartbeat wanting your money back in an instant. I understand that computers are much more complicated, but TV's, DVR's and Cell phones and the myriad of other technology we deal with is becoming just as complicated without the same perils. Cars are pretty complicated and if you went to turn it off and it decided not to, you wouldn't stand for it!

Sigh...

OK, I am going to go calm down now... this is quickly becoming my "why Mac is better than Windows blog". Not my initial intention.

iCal support on my iPod Touch - Finally!

OK, for those of you who don't know this about me, I am a super Apple Computer geek and I pretty much do and buy whatever it is that Steve Jobs tells me to do (and buy). It's worked out pretty well so far and I feel that I have the coolest, most creative, easiest to use and certainly most reliable Computer on the the block. As my iPod is an extension of my computer with all my electronic media on it, I of course had to get the latest version of the iPod called the "iPod Touch". Up to this point, it was merely the coolest iPod ever created with all of my music, pictures, movies, TV shows and podcasts all on one super elegant device. Oh, and did I mention full web browsing via Wi-Fi? It also has this new "Multi-touch" technology that lets you use two fingers (called the "pinch" technique) to zoom in and move your pictures around on screen, which may not sound all that cool, but when you see it in action it really is a one-of-a-kind feature at this point.

OK, ok... you get my point. My iPod is cool. The only problem with it to this point is that it did not have the ability for you to add iCal (Calendar) events on the device itself. You had to use the Mac to add the event and then plug the iPod in to transfer any calendar events over. This was very disappointing and for a moment, I actually considered not getting one of these. Well, I'm thrilled to report that as of today's new firmware update, I can now add iCal items on my iPod, which means that in additional to being the greatest iPod ever created (not counting the iPhone), it is also the coolest PDA on the planet!

And he lived happily ever after.

Okaaaaayyyyy, I'm not even sure what to make of this one:

This is what I saw in the parking lot of one of my customers today. I'm not going to say which customer it was, but I now fear for my safety and the safety of the public in general if nuts like these are responsible for the safety and administration of our public utilities!
